John Hofstetter has a long-standing career in the visual arts. He is a graduate of the Fine Arts programme at the University of Waterloo, and studied ceramics at Sheridan College of Craft and Design. John has extensive experience in printmaking, functional and sculptural ceramics, public sculpture, art education and graphic design. Photography, assemblage and site-specific sculptural installations are the primary activities of John’s current art practice. His work examines the interactions between artefacts of human activity and the landscape, both urban and rural. Much of his work is influenced by the landscape and cultural history of coastal Newfoundland where he has maintained a summer home and studio since 1977.
